The HSA organzies a luncheon for the teachers- so depending on where my name is on the list- sometimes I get called to bake/make something. Otherwise- I do nothing specifically for my children's teachers. And quite frankly, between 3 kids in K, 6 and 7 grades- there are just way too many teachers to gift to- they each get something at Christmas and then for the end of the year. I think that is more than enough (IMHO).

How about just a big old fashioned "Thank You!" note to a teacher that went a little above and beyond (stayed after class to help, noticed you were having a bad day and didn't over-react, etc...).   Words mean so much more than a bottle of perfume or a gift card.

I am a preschool teacher...and believe me...I would appreciate a note time and time again....parents are so quick to hit you with anything bad.....yet not many show their appreciation with just a simple and kind note/card.

The parents in my DD's preschool class are putting together some cash and getting them visa gift cards. We were going to have lunch catered for them, however the school is doing that.

My ds's daycare are surprising the teachers with notes from the parents. They only handed out enough for the main teachers, but I asked for more and wrote what I think are nice personalized notes to each one (7 in total).  I don't have a lot of money, so unfortunately gifts or even gift cards were out of the question for me, but I am glad to have the opportunity to express how much each of these ladies mean to me and my son.

As a former teacher, I don't expect anything for Teacher Apprciation Week.  The PTA or Student Council or whomever usually does something, so nothing more is required really.

For that exact reason, is the reason the parents in my DD's class and I are getting them something. These teachers do not expect ANYTHING. They just get up each morning, head in and deal with 20-30 cranky / hyper / inquisitive / clingy kids! They do it because they love them. And with this group of teachers, its VERY apparent that they love each and every child. Because they do it without reason, and because they don't expect anything, we think its a great idea to do something for them. We've decided on Visa gift cards. They can buy anything they'd like. And if there is any extra money, i am thinking of buying some books to donate to the classroom.

I don't understand this teacher appreciation week...do you do this in place of end of year gift or in addition to?
